About Sabor Criollo
Latin American restaurant in Stockbridge
Sabor Criollo is a bright and colourful Latin American restaurant on Deanhaugh Street in Stockbridge. It’s a cosy, fun space with trompe l’oeil window murals showing South American beach scenes. Traditional Latin American music plus South American beers, wines and cocktails help keep the atmosphere upbeat. Groups are as welcome as couples and, of course, solo diners.
Venezuelan and Mexican dishes
Venezuelan and Mexican dishes are at the heart of the menu in Sabor Criollo. Dishes like the nachos and filled quesadillas or fajitas will be familiar. A more exotic choice might be the pabellón criollo – a Venezuelan dish made with shredded beef, simmered black beans, rice and fried plantains. Other authentic options include the arepas – a type of corncake filled with shredded beef and cheese; chicken mayo cheese and avocado or mixed veggie and cheese.
There is also a selection of seafood dishes like the king prawns sautéed in garlic, parsley and white wine sauce or the cazuela de mariscos – a seafood medley stew with mussels, squids and prawns and fish fillets sautéed in white wine, tomato, capsicum and shallots.
