For a special occasion, the lunch menu at the Tower is excellent value (including wine and tea/coffee with petit fours it came in at just under £30 each). The setting is genuinely stunning and the service was polite and efficient.
The lunch menu features 3 choices of starter and 3 mains – one meat, one fish and one vegetarian each. We were able to swap desserts for starters (for about 45p extra). The ingredients are seasonal and locally sourced and the menu combines Scottish tradition with global flair. My friend chose pork fritters and black pudding on what looked like a timbale of bubble and squeak. It looked like a really posh cooked breakfast and he said it was delicious. The Tower is well-known for its seafood, so I chose the seafood and chili linguine with rocket. It was simple, subtle but really tasty. The other option – which we both considered (once we’d googled it) was a chickpea sambar and flatbread.
