Rating Sunday brunch at Hotel du Vin (Rating 4.8/5)
I booked this for 6 people as a celebration of a couple of birthdays. When we arrived the hotel had no note of our booking, despite me receiving an email from 5pm the day before confirming my booking. After an initial panic as the dining room was very busy, the staff assured us that there would not be a problem and said we could have the chef's table. This turned out to be inspirational as we were shown to a small private dining room where there was a window which looked into the kitchen and we were able to watch the chefs hard at work. The food was delicious. I ordered the fish of the day which was cod. Although it was lovely, my only criticism would be that the portion was on the small side. I am sure that the original piece of fish must have been cut into at least 3 pieces, one of which was served up to me. The staff were very attentive and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble and I can't wait to return. The only problem is that having been spoilt with the chef's table I would want the same experience again.
