Rating Amazing haggis, neeps and tatties (Rating 4.8/5)
I found this place on 5pm as they had a deal for 2 courses and a glass of wine for £14.95 - bargain!
The location is perfect and decor is really nice, there was a nice welcome when we walked through the door with out coats being taken straightaway.
We both eat from the market menu which was part of the deal. A good choice to select from which was a pleasant surprise, although when asked what the special of the day way (£5 supp) we were told there was no special, also the waiter wasnt that in the know about what the soup was - yellow.
I opted for haggis, neeps and tatties for starter and oh my I am glad I did - they were some of the best i have tasted and beautifully presented on a nice hot plate. I could have had them for starter and main. A really nice even portion of all three rather than loads of one and not much of another. For main I opted for the lamb, which again was a very good portion and the lamb was just amazing, really tender and just came apart with your fork. It was served with some root vegetables, you could order more if you wanted, on looking back I would have maybe ordered some additional veg.
For pudding I decided to go off the market menu as this only offered the ice cream or cheese. I saw sticky toffee pudding on the menu and couldn't not go for it. Whilst it was nice, I would have to say it was the weakest dish for me - the pudding qas quite dry and not enough sauce to help make it as moist as you would want. Saying that I still managed to finish it all.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something a bit different. The staff were great, the ambience was perfect and for 2 of us to have 3 courses and 2 glasses of wine we paid £25 each.
