There were good and bad elements of this meal. This is a lovely little restaurant and the service was good. It was unfortunate that in the quite empty space a table of four were seated right next to us which couldn't help but be a bit off putting.
My husbands eggs Benedict starter was very good. The pastry on my caramelised onion tart tartin was actually pretty soggy, however it did taste good.
I had the cod loin and my husband had the liver. Both were a little under seasoned and my husband felt that the liver was very pink. This from a man who eats his steak blue. My biggest problem was with the broad beans. Even I know that these need to be skinned. It seemed a very rookie mistake for a chef and made the beans uneatable. Picking them out of the mash wasn't very much fun. The wine is all a little overpriced and even with the deal the two course meal with a bottle of wine came in at £61. I think that there are probably better deals to be had. Had the meal been perfect, the price wouldn't have mattered.
