I'm not a negative person, so positives first. The weather was lovely on Friday evening. Bar service was good. Introduced to a new drink, a Rekorderlig strawberry and lime cider. Delish! On my booking, having seen some of the reviews, I asked if we could have a quietish table. To give the restaurant their due, they did phone to explain they had 2 other big parties in (we were 4 couples)but would do their best. Our table was in a corner of the lounge area, under the flat screen TV showing Sky News. We had to find it ourselves, no-one showed us to it. After a wait of at least 20 minutes, we borrowed a wine list from the table next door. After another long wait, I went looking for someone to take our order. The order for the food and the wine was taken at the same time. The red, a nice South African Merlot was at the correct temperature, but the white was plunked on the table in a metal container with no ice in it. When we asked for an ice bucket, the waiter went to the bar, got a glass of ice and put it on the table. The starter arrived after not too long a wait, but one of the orders was wrong. We had to wait an extraordinarily long time for the main course. The table was booked for 8pm (not ready when we arrived), our main course was delivered at 9.45. A second order of wine brought a white with ice in the bottom of the bucket. The food was OK for the price, but not brilliant. All through our meal we could not hear or speak to each other properly because of the noise. I had a sore throat the next morning from shouting to be heard. We decided not to stay for a dessert or coffee as it was 10.30 before we got our bill and we wanted to find somewhere quieter to finish our evening. We did not leave a tip as I think this must have been one of the worst dining experiences any of us has had.
