A Mongolian restaurant might not sound like the most conventional way to celebrate a special occasion but Khublai Khan’s is relaxed, great fun and the perfect spot for large groups. Designed like a Mongolian tent, the theme continues throughout but that’s not the most unusual aspect of this place. Rather than choosing from a menu, you choose your meat, vegetables, spices and sauces and have it cooked before your eyes on a hot plate griddle. Self-service means every taste is catered for, especially the rather more exotic; kangaroo, zebra and shark are on the menu, along with more traditional offerings. If the prospect of choosing for yourself is too daunting the friendly staff can help advise but the best advice is just to be creative, try something different and remember this is less a restaurant, more a dining experience.
