Booked as had eaten previously was not disappointed. We actually ate off their usual menu. Haggis ravioli, omg lovely. Great service, lovely clean place. Worth the visit to Edinburgh from a Weegie and 2 Invernessians. Family owned business...support them.

Located on Lothian Road, Bar Italia is in the heart of Edinburgh’s West End and offers contemporary and classic Italian dishes in relaxed surroundings. The family-run restaurant is accessible for wheelchair users, child-friendly and has the distinction of stocking house wines produced in the family’s very own vineyards in the south of Italy. Visitors are greeted warmly at Bar Italia and the restaurant strives to provide the best dining experience regardless of the occasion.
The restaurant’s kitchen uses only certified Scotch beef and are able to offer gluten-free pizzas and lasagne or cannelloni dishes on request. Italian staple dishes like minestrone soup, garlic bread and bruschetta are on the menu, although the homemade chicken liver pate flavoured with Moscato has often received praise from diners.
A wide array of pasta and pizza courses are also available at Bar Italia with special mention given in particular to the calzone pizza (folded pizza with tomato, mozzarella, spicy sausage, mozzarella and cooked ham), the tagliatelle Fabio (chicken, chorizo and broad beans with a cream and tomato sauce) and their award-winning homemade Martone ice cream.
Bar Italia is on Lothian Road a short distance from Edinburgh’s Filmhouse Cinema and Usher Hall in the West End. Haymarket train station is around ten minutes on foot from the restaurant and taxi ranks are also within walking distance. Some pay and display parking spaces can be found on nearby Bread Street and Spittal Street and many bus stops are also close to Bar Italia.
