Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea has swung right back into fashion over the last few years with everyone from the grandest hotels to the coolest bars reviving the afternoon tea tradition. You can use 5pm Dining to find, browse and book venues that offer afternoon tea in your area.

In Glasgow, traditional tea rooms like Cup, Cranachan and The Tearooms at The Butterfly and the Pig serve up delectable cup cakes and scones, while trendy bars like Lucky 7 on Glasgow's Bath Street and Wild Cabaret are putting a funky new spin on afternoon tea and cocktails or fizz. In Edinburgh, hotels such as the Waldorf Astoria and One Square in the Sheraton ensure that the custom of taking afternoon tea is in no danger of dying out in the capital.

Excellent festive afternoon tea, great selection of cakes and sandwiches and the service was excellent. Very attentive staff who continually checked to see if everything was okay with the food, if we needed any more drinks, asked if we were enjoying our food. Great atmosphere, very relaxed and

Great food, like belt staff members, spectacular views!

In comparison to the many other afternoon teas that we have had, this was disappointing. It was described as a 'Festive Afternoon Tea', however, other than a turkey and cranberry half- roll and a tiny mince pie each, there was absolutely no festive atmosphere. We felt that, at £22 per person, this

Scones were to die for! Service could have been better, not really the fault of the staff though, they just didn't have enough staff working.

Fantastic wee tearoom. Original and old-fashioned cuppas with amazing home-baking!

Great location, amazing deal and the staff were lovely. Got loads for our £8.95 including a glass of prosecco. Lovely and quiet and looks like a nice hotel to stay in too.
Morag Kelly - 28/11/2016
Service, ambience and quality was great, even got a glass of prosecco, would definitely go back 10/10.
Caroline Geary - 27/11/2016
We were ignored for ten mins by 2 bar staff counting change to the point we were going to walk away. Restaurant was freezing. Afternoon tea was a let down, mostly egg sandwiches and the turkey/chicken cold meat ones tasted like really cheap meat.

Afternoon Tea at Mar Hall

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the ceremony known as afternoon tea," said Henry James. We couldn't agree more. There is something indulgent about spending an afternoon feasting on a tiered tray filled with cakes and fingers sandwiches, accompanied by a piping hot pot of tea or coffee (gossip optional). As all afternoon tea aficionados know, a successful "ceremony" relies on three important factors: food, surroundings and …
