Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea has swung right back into fashion over the last few years with everyone from the grandest hotels to the coolest bars reviving the afternoon tea tradition. You can use 5pm Dining to find, browse and book venues that offer afternoon tea in your area.

In Glasgow, traditional tea rooms like Cup, Cranachan and The Tearooms at The Butterfly and the Pig serve up delectable cup cakes and scones, while trendy bars like Lucky 7 on Glasgow's Bath Street and Wild Cabaret are putting a funky new spin on afternoon tea and cocktails or fizz. In Edinburgh, hotels such as the Waldorf Astoria and One Square in the Sheraton ensure that the custom of taking afternoon tea is in no danger of dying out in the capital.

I took a foreign friend here for her first afternoon tea experience and it did not disappoint! Seated in the conservatory on a sunny warm day, the service was friendly and efficient and the coffee and cakes were delicious, even allowing for another round of hot drinks to be included in the price!

Three of us had afternoon tea at Cup for my friend's birthday. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was of a high quality. We were not rushed and it was perfect afternoon. Highly recommended.

This was a great 5pm deal for afternoon tea, lovely sandwiches and delicious cakes with a glass of pink prossecco for just £1 extra. A great deal!

All I can say was value would have been amazing even without 5pm deal as the food and attention to detail were brilliant. Very helpful staff who made sure my wife got exactly what she liked even though it deviated from the menu. Oh, and all their scones are freshly made when you order them... yum!

Booked for daughter to take Grandma for a wee treat. Sandwiches were disappointing as only egg and cheese and pickle on the stand. Scones and cakes were OK, not the best but not the worst. Will pay more and go to elsewhere next time.

The Bloom Gin Afternoon Tea at One Square: summer is here.

The 5pm Dining blog had a fine time last week at One Square in Edinburgh.
