Winner: The Peat Inn

The Peat Inn is a beautiful 5 star Scottish restaurant with three AA rosettes and is consistently one of the best restaurants in Scotland. The Peat Inn also provides luxury accommodation and captures the best of small country house hotels in Scotland, with a convivial and unpretentious atmosphere.

Winner: Osteria Piero

Osteria Piero has over 90 years of tradition and experience, with a warm and cosy atmosphere. The menu offers a selection full of fresh rustic Italian cuisine. Osteria Piero is scrupulous about using the finest and freshest authentic Italian and local ingredients. The well balanced wine list is hand picked.

Winner: Mother India's Cafe

With a branch in both Glasgow and Edinburgh - won Indian Restaurant of the Year. For years the Mother India name has been synonymous with quality Indian sub continent food. The restaurant has established itself as an on going favourite with the dining public since it first opened in Glasgow in 1996. The continued focus on using the best quality local produce, fresh herbs and carefully selected spices has helped the team to win this well deserved award.

Winner: Nanakusa

Glasgow restaurant Nanakusa which won the Oriental restaurant of the year award is a stylish but informal Japanese restaurant which embraces the diversity of Japanese food. The menu has more than 100 options, from sashimi and sushi to burgeoning noodle bowls and all the dishes show the attention to detail bestowed on them by the owner David Wan.

Winner: Calistoga Central

The Specialty Restaurant of the Year, was deservedly won by Edinburgh restaurant Calistoga Central. It is a Californian Grill offering the best Scottish produce that is both delicious and beautifully presented. It specialises in Californian cuisine, with the selection at Calistoga demonstrating the fascinating ethnic mix of fusion cuisine, which was invented in California.

Winner: Di Maggio’s

The well established Glaswegian fixture, Di Maggio’s, won the Family Friendly Restaurant of the Year. When dining at any of the branches you are assured of enjoying Authentic Italian Cuisine in a relaxed family-friendly setting. Families are made to feel at home whilst dining in pleasant, relaxed surroundings and ordering from their vast selection of home style Italian recipes. At Di Maggio’s the cuisine draws on New and Old world recipes and there definitely is something for every age and taste bud.

Winner: Geoffrey Smeddle

The Chef of The Year, Geoffrey Smeddle, was formerly head chef at Etain now chef/proprietor at The Peat Inn, Fife. He is a renowned chef and food writer. He has trained under Michelin starred chefs and focuses on delivering modern cooking based on the finest local and seasonal ingredients.

Winner: Restaurant Martin Wishart

Another coveted award, The Fine Dining Experience of the Year, was won by Restaurant Martin Wishart. Martin himself was a winner last year, in 2009, when he won the Chef of the Year at the Scottish Restaurant Awards. Martin Wishart is no stranger to awards, as he won his first Michelin Star in 2001 and this has been confirmed every year since. He is renowned for bringing the very best traditional and modern French cuisine to his eponymous Edinburgh restaurant.

Winner: The King’s Wark

Best Pub Grub of the Year, was won by Edinburgh’s King’s Wark with its well deserved reputation for cosy bar meals and clever, creative cooking. The King’s Wark was a previous winner of 'Best Pub Food' in the Scottish Restaurant Awards 2008 and its testament to its continued attention to detail that it is an assured second time winner in the eating and drinking stakes.

Winner: Ardeonaig Hotel & Restaurant

Hotel Restaurant of the Year Ardeonaig Hotel & Restaurant Ardeonaig is based in one of the most beautiful places in the world, Highland Perthshire. Pete Gottgens the Chef/Owner’s commitment is to produce flavour driven food, that eats as well as it looks. He sources the freshest, local seasonal produce, and cooks with care and flair to bring out its full flavour. Dining at Ardeonaig offers unfussy, unpretentious, but definitely not run-of-the-mill dining. Good food and fine wine in a relaxed atmosphere is at the very heart of Ardeonaig, endorsed by its Michelin and Inn of the Year awards.

Winner: Hotel du Vin

Best Customer Service of the Year was won by the Glasgow based Hotel du Vin. This stylish Boutique hotel which won Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year at the 2009 Scottish Restaurant Awards has gained a reputation for being at the cutting edge of hospitality today. Their knowledgeable and friendly staff present quality food, and are examples of the whole range of training and development opportunities which Hotel du Vin provide for their staff.

Winner: Cail Bruich

Best Rural Restaurant of the Year Cail Bruich is located in the rural setting of Bridge of Weir on the outskirts of Glasgow. This is a family run venture between brothers Chris and Paul Charalambous. Cail Bruich is renowned for serving modern Scottish cuisine sourced from the finest local sources. Coupled with presentation and attention to detail this gives a genuine authenticity to the mouth watering modern cuisine served.

Winner: Opus One

Best Urban Restaurant of the Year is Perth based Opus One Restaurant. Their Head Chef, Ryan Young, is meticulous in his culinary skill, and uses the best, fresh, local and seasonal produce creating artfully presented, innovative and memorable dishes. Opus One, located in the New County Hotel retained its AA 2 Rosette Award, further proof of its merits.

Winner: Eurest/Scottish Power

Healthy Workplace Restaurant was won by Eurest. Eurest Services runs the Scottish Power's staff restaurant at and provides a wide variety of healthy food including breakfasts, lunches and snacks.

Winner: Ondine

Ondine Restaurant in Edinburgh has won the coveted Seafood Restaurant of the Year. Award-winning chef Roy Brett, has spent over 23 years in the industry, honing his skills with some of the country’s top chefs. His genuine passion for seafood is reflected in Ondine’s fresh, seasonal, menus. Roy was named Hotel Chef of the Year at the Scottish Chef Awards 2009, worthy recognition for his contributions to the Scottish dining scene.

Winner: Rocpool Reserve Hotel

Newcomer of the Year is Rocpool Reserve Hotel, a boutique hotel, bar and restaurant which offers wonderful luxury in the heart of Inverness. Albert Roux, the multi-award winning chef brings his wealth of experience to the restaurant at Rocpool Reserve. Adding another award to its previous one — voted Scotland's best small luxury hotel of 2009 — a review states “The dishes live up to the promises that the decor makes. They are well balanced and smartly presented”.
