Local (Bar and Diner)

This stylish bar and diner is a firm favourite with the young party crowd who come to Sauchiehall Street to have some fun. With a lively atmosphere and great music the Local lives up to its name, drawing a regular crowd. Ceiling lamps and spherical white TVs add a touch of flair, whilst the underground pool lounge, with five full-sized American pool tables, provides plenty to do if you’re handy with a cue. The menu has something for everyone, ranging from New York style pizzas to Indonesian chicken curry. All the options could broadly be described as comfort food, although their eclecticism is impressive. It’s not often that you see such a global and unashamedly random menu. The Local also serves hearty breakfasts to happy brunchers and claims to be Scotland’s reigning spirit bar of the year, if you’re more in the mood for a liquid lunch.
