Esca offers traditional Italian cuisine with a modern twist, in comfortable surroundings. Wooden tables, autumnal oranges and rich blues create a warm atmosphere. Large couches and wood panelling create a retro feel. The crowd is lively and good value lunches are popular with those who don't have time, or the appetite, for a three-course meal. The extensive a la carte menu is always available. Favourite Italian dishes such as spaghetti, lasagne and cannelloni, share the stage with seared veal medallions, rolled veal, parma ham, and steamed Shetland mussels. Diners with an even more adventurous palette can choose pizzas such as the Inferno, combining pepperoni, fresh chillies, spicy chicken and onion. Certain dishes are exclusively vegetarian, whilst others are specials, designed for two people to share.
