Abode - BarMC and Grill

Part of the Abode Glasgow boutique hotel, Abode Bar MC and Grill is a stylish lounge bar and modern grill restaurant which has its own Bath Street entrance. The MC stands for Michael Caines and, while the celebrity chef’s fine dining restaurant serves high end cuisine upstairs, the lower level bar and grill has more of an informal vibe and a simpler menu. But although the emphasis might be on chilled tunes and cocktails rather than fine dining, the Abode Bar MC and Grill has the same high standards as upstairs. Well sourced local ingredients are the key to this laidback Glasgow venue.

There are several menus running at Abode Bar MC and Grill in Glasgow and they all change regularly but the guiding principle is that the dishes should be simple and satisfying. This could mean salmon fishcakes with spinach and chive cream, a king prawn Thai curry or, from the grill, a herb-crusted pork cutlet served with fondant potato, celeriac puree and honey glazed carrots. The beef used in the bar and grill comes from the Mey estate in the far north of Scotland. It is dry aged for 28 days which means that dishes like the rib eye steak served with hand-cut chips, tomatoes, wilted spinach and a peppercorn sauce are understandably popular. Michael Caines Abode ventures are flourishing across the UK but, for many people, the Glasgow Bar MC and Grill is possibly the group’s most hip hangout.
